thoughts on the loss by scottchurch thoughts on the loss by scottchurch
today was a hard day, i attended the funeral of a good friend, Melissa Hollely. she passed on sunday suddenly, she was only 28 years old.

my life, and i believe all of our lives, are made up of images. moments without captions that pass so quickly, but burn themselves into what becomes memories.

3 days ago she was ten years old, chasing her brothers and i down the street, trying so hard to show us her best somersault or handspring flip.

2 days ago, she was a strong confident young adult beeming and telling me all of her plans for the future

yesterday she was in my studio, a beautiful woman dancing and prowling like a cat, full of life and power and passion.

today she is gone.

i don't kinow what to say. goodbye little girl. i love you.

Love is a powerful thing. It can be shown there beauty and friendship. Your friend appears to have been overflowing with love to the point that she could no longer contain it in her heart. This photo looks as if she is releasing this love to the world. Very powerful piece.

Your story deeply touched my soul. She is a beautiful woman, and remains that way forever in your heart. We feel the pain of our losses, but do our lost feel the same?

Amazing photograph.

The combination of such an expressive and eloquent photo, combined with your revelation of this model's story, actually got me teary-eyed. It reminds me of all the wonderful, beautiful, precious people I have had the chance to cross paths with, and how much I cherish the memories I have of each one of them.

Thank you for sharing this memory with us.

Such a sad loss... such a wonderful moment. It's hard to comprehend how, why, when, and where such things will occur. But we always have our memories, and what better way to be then to be remembered? Isn't it the final sign of sadness, after all, in old age when memory is lost... A permanent memory in a gallery of beauty... She stands supreme, like the goddess Aphrodite/Venus.

for this we give our hearts to you,
so many broken, but the same.
for this we cry these tears for you,
for your eyes, passion, and flame.
though an image is all we have,
we weep without knowing your name.
though we'll never hear your voice,
your memory will forever stay.

she is beautiful. she is an angel.
